An estuary is a coastal body of water that is enclosed, but with free connection to open sea.

A place for transit between rivers and the coast and the Delaware Estuary stretches from as far north as Trenton, NJ, to as far south as Lewes, DE. The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary advocates for the preservation of this estuary, one of the largest in the world.

On Saturday, Sept. 10, the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, along with Philadelphia Water, will celebrate the important portion of this estuary that flows through Philadelphia with its annual Pennsylvania Coast Day event.
